This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land

As everyone knows, tomorrow’s protest in Porterville, at the corner of Henderson and Newcomb, by the helicopter, is part of a Nationwide demonstration! Come out and join us!

One of the most beautiful patriotic songs ever written is This Land
is Your Land by Woody Guthrie
.

The lyrics are completely secular, 100% inclusive, and descriptive of
the principles our country is founded on, while demanding equality for
all.

We all know at least part of the song, and I think it would be
wonderful if during tomorrow’s demonstration and march we can sing it
to demonstrate the rightness of our cause, and solidarity with each
other and with our brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, mothers,
fathers and fellow citizens marching across the country.

The song is probably a little longer then you remember, so I am
including the lyrics below, and here as a pdf file.

please print them out and bring them to the demonstration.

the pdf file has two pages, one with one copy of the lyric, and one
with two, so you can make extra copies without wasting paper, for
those who might not be able to bring a copy, or who might not see this
message.

Finally, since I am not sure if attachments are allowed, a few minutes
after I send this message, I will upload the pdf file to the yahoo
groups page in the Files section (Link below in the message footer)
and also on my blog at Portervillenerd.com

THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
words and music by Woody Guthrie

Chorus:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

I’ve roamed and rambled and I’ve followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

As I was walkin’ – I saw a sign there
And that sign said – no tress passin’
But on the other side …. it didn’t say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!
In the squares of the city – In the shadow of the steeple

Near the relief office – I see my people
And some are grumblin’ and some are wonderin’
If this land’s still made for you and me.
Chorus (2x)
